I wouldn't worry about the food my 6 month old son eats rice cearal for breakfast about as much as what would be in a jar then for lunch he has a large jar o vegies and the for dinner he has a large jar of vegies and some homemade jelly or fruit from a jar and he has 6-6oz bottles a day but your son should be having some more milk it has the recomended amount on the back of the formula tin so in short i wouldnt woryy about the food intake my peadiatrician said this is normal and my son is not overweight but i would try and up his fluid intake

At 6 months, my son had 4 - 7-8oz bottles a day and only ate 1 jar of fruit and 1 jar of veggie. At about 7 months I started giving him another jar of veggie in the evening like dinner before his last bottle for the night.

Well it is a bit much. If you are doing baby food you will want to cut that bottle back to four ounces. You want to do no more than four meals a day. Three with food plus formula, and the fourth with just a bottle, you choose the meal, but bed time would be the best time for that because then he would not get as much gas. Oh and the bottle that stands alone you can do eight ounces.

Just letting you know that my sister in law gave her baby more solids than milk at this age and she didn't grow much, she had no neck and short for her age until she seen the nurse and she gave her the right amount of milk and less solids she suddenly shot up and she now has a neck!

your baby is growing and should be eating more food! if you read the back of the gerber food jar it will tell you what they should be eating per day! my baby was spoon fed cereal at 2.5 3 mos and was eating 3 pr more jars of food! lets face it can you drink watery boob milk all day or milk and be full?? she had teeth and was eating solid foods at like 9 mos and that was ok for her!! i depends on the child and how hungry they are!!

At 6 months he doesnt really NEED that much food, but he needs MORE formula or breast milk. He should be getting about 32 ounces a day, not 24.
www.wholesomebabyfood.com has a great guideline and meal suggestions.

That's a lot of baby food...I suggest more breastmilk or formula. I gave my baby rice cereal for breakfast and 1 jar of baby food either for lunch or dinner.
Did you ask your doctor? Is he overweight or underweight for his age?

Nope, sounds good to me. Hopefully your meals include baby cereal, which is important for them at this age, particularly the iron in it.

I would be doing more formula and less solids. Check with your pediatrician though, they might be OK with your feeding plan!
