You are going to get a lot of varied answers to this question. Pediatricians and dentists suggest removing the bottle at a year of age. They dont NEED a bottle past a year, its more of a vice at that point. I started all of my kids on sippie cups at 6 months so by the time they hit 1 year, they no longer needed the bottle.

That's a personal thing. Some people think there's a certain age to take a child off the bottle, but it's really your personal preference. My children have all had a bottle (only one a day, in the evening before bed) until they were about 2.
Don't let people tell you that your child is too old for a bottle, it's between you and your child.
Remember to never give a child a bottle while he is in bed. The fluid will lay in the back of their mouths and cause tooth decay and ear infections.

It is correct that you should get rid of the bottle as close to 12 months as possible. The biggest reason, in my opinion, is because the bottle puts the mouth in an immature posture that does not support using the oral motor structures for language and mature articulation. Unfortunately, a sippy cup uses the same oral motor posture, so really a child should go to an open cup and a straw when it is convenient to do so.

you're supposed to stop the bottle at 12 months old and give a sippy cup. if you prolong it too much you can cause your child to have teeth problems in the future. and at 18 months old they should be drinking out of a regular cup.
this is always what i've been told by my pediatricians for all 3 of my children, but i think we've all waited longer to stop the bottle. as mothers we sometimes forget how old they are really getting!
take care.

You can get rid of it as early as 8 months (when they can use sippy cups) or as late as 2 years. Any longer than 2 years and it can cause issues with teeth. My 18 month old still has one bottle at bedtime. But that won't be for much longer!

It's recommended that babies stop the bottle and move up to a sippy cup by 12 months. It can ruin their teeth if bottle use is continued.

I would think at around 12-14 months of age, they should be taken off the bottle.

Everyone has their opinion, but what happens in the end, is the child himself will choose. lol
They suggest getting your child on a sippy cup at six months, but my son was sixteen mounths when we finely got him to take something besides a bottle. It was hard and we had to do it gradual, we just replaced one bottle at a time with the sippy cup.
