Why can't you check out when you check in? Why don't they give you your 24 hour stay?

So the maids have time to clean the rooms before the next guests arrive.

If you had the room for 24 hours, then when would they have the chance to clean it and get it ready for the next person? That time difference allows them to clean, inspect and maintain the room so that the next person can have that same 3:00 check in time. (Although I've stayed at soem that make me question the cleaning part)

Because they need time for the housekeeping staff to ensure that all of the rooms are ready for incoming guests. In many cases, however, you can request a late checkout (no guarantee you'll get it, but I've never had a problem). This may allow you to stay in your room until 1 or 2 pm, possibly. Worth a try, anyway....and they don't charge extra for that...they just need to know that you have that need.

You want to check into a clean room right? This takes a little bit of time.
