Good luck for your physics education. I can gaurantee that it will be fun provided you are never overwhelmed by the problems. Take those as fun and use good text books. It makes life a lot different.

Some good text books at the first year university level are:

1. Fundamentals of Physics - Resnick, Halliday and Walker
--- a very good book that I used.
link: http://www.amazon.com/Fundamentals-Physics-David-Halliday/dp/0471232319

2. Physics for Scientists and Engineers with Modern Physics - Douglas C. Giancoli
A very good book for non-physics students

3. University Physics - Sears and Zemansky -- Very good and somewhat suitable for serious readers.

There are a lot of concepts in physics that we have use in everyday life. I would suggest you to look at some good book ( including any one of the above). You will enjoy it.

And of course, you need to know a little bit of mathematics. So, if you are not good at mathematics, try to review it before taking physics.

Cheers.

Physics is a fun subject. It is a lot of math however. It is better than chemistry [in my opinion] because you can see what is actually happening. Some of the things we have done in physics this year is drop bowling balls out of our third story class window as well as eggs and pennies. Also, physics is about relativity, and that can be hard to grasp. If you send someone into space at 95% the speed of light for 25 years, the person in the shuttle will age 25 years, while people on earth will age 38!! The only thing that is constant is light. Time isn't even constant! Physics is amazing!!

Just like any other subject, it's all a function of the instructor. A good instructor can make a dull subject interesting. A bad instructor can make anything boring.

Physics is about motion, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism. A good library will have entry books on these subjects.

Here's a fun thing you should know. You will hear about "Conservation of Energy", and "Conservation of Momentum". Energy is conserved because laws of physics do not change over time, and momentum is conserved because laws of physics do not change because of location. Maybe you won't learn about this part right away, but it's good to know.
