There are the easy things to say here like lift and get yourself conditioned. But yeah, technique and toughness are the important aspects. Football is one of those things in life you get back what you put into it. It sounds cliche but if you are giving every ounce of what you have, and you are dedicated to the game, it will show.

High School football is not the NFL or NCAA, you can make it on toughness and dedication alone whether you're D1 or d6

hold up here, starting varsity (i'm assuming high school) has nothing to do with speed and agility, sure it doesn't hurt but take it from me, i wasn't the fastest or strongest but i had the most heart and dedication and technique which helped me start two years of varsity and win individual awards as well as a state championships my senior year. Technique and heart will go miles in high school ball.

MASTER YOUR POSITION. you will need to ahve a lot of agility and strentgh in any position. if you are a qb, go out with your friends during the summer and have a catch, foucus on your accuracy, and power. if you are a wr foucus on route running and catching. if you are a running back, learn how to juke and "hit sitck" (madden terminology), and a deffensive back (safety, corner back, or linebacker) STAY WITH YOUR MAN, and dont give up. focus on your power on the defensive side. learn how to backpedal quickly, cause off the snap you would have to do that for a couple seconds to stay with your man. NICE 40 yrd dash man nice and fast, good luck on making the team

I cant stess this enough WORK OUT and GET YOUR ENDURANCE HIGHER

First off you need to concentrate on figuring out what position you're gonna be playing.
Second you need to increase your speed and endurance by running every day.
Third you need to increase your strength (bench, squat, etc.)
Fourth you need to just go out there and have fun playing football cause otherwise there's no point in playing.
