Yes and no. When Vince took over or eliminated much of the smaller regional promotions, he did it as his own boss. Vince knew he couldn't compete with Turner but there was one difference. WCW could write off some contracts but if it came to a board of directors and turning profits; then what? Vince never drempt it would take that long or I'm sure that he could APPEAR at least to buy them out. DX was a chance for Vince to play the underdog status to the nines! Who can ever forget the NWO......or the more catchy phrase from the underdog DX.....LET OUR PEOPLE GO! And, in fairness, Vince could have had wrestlers interfere in Nitro matches etc., etc., etc., before ever revealing that he had taken it all over. If DX had a similar rallying cry or cause; wrestling could once again rise to a whole new level.

D-Generation X was founded in 1997.
The nWo was founded on July 7, 1996.
Was DX a rip-off of the nWo? Chronology suggests it was so, as does the fact they had similar "I do what I want when I want" attitudes.
However, I'm not entirely convinced that DX was a rip-off. The nWo once had nearly HALF of the entire WCW roster as its members. DX never had that many members in its stable.
That being said, I wasn't really a fan of either stable until last year, when DX revived itself as a tag team instead of a stable. In fact, there were only two nWo moments I enjoyed at the time, and looking back, I now only like one of those two moments (although I still laugh at the stupidity of the other moment).
nWo Moment #1 (the stupid moment) - Hogan winning the WCW Championship from Kevin Nash using the "Fingerpoke of Doom"
nWo Moment #2 (the only nWo moment I still like) - Bret Hart joining the nWo
At least DX had funny promos and skits when they weren't wrestling, and at least the DX members (other than X-Pac, who defected to DX after signing with WWE after being released by WCW) could wrestle. Take Bret's time with the nWo out of the equation, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a good wrestler in the entire faction (the closest I can come up with offhand is Konnan).

particular yet in assessment to DX, D-Mex isn't saturated with NON-skills like gay Kip. plus it is not like the WWE in no way stole something the two, if there become NO NWO, there might in no way have been a DX. If there become NO PAUL HEYMAN and ECW, who might McMahon have stolen the assumption for the perspective era from? certainly the actual Psicosis is there now as Nicho Millionairo
