People should listen to old music like classic rock? I mean a lot of bands are out of my time like Gun N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, and Jimi Hendrix. Most people just listen to rap and hip hop now and think classic rock is stupid just because its old. And most rapppers songs copy off older songs (including older rock music) anyway. My personal beleif is that they should make more music the way they used to.

Why stop with classic rock? How about swing jazz, Zydeco, folk, ballad. There is lots of good music out there that doesn't fall under the category of classic rock.

They should make music that people listen to, and they do. Just because you like classic rock, doesn't mean that everyone should. Musical styles change and evolve. That's why music is so much fun to listen to. Think back 100 years ago. What was the popular style? How about 50 years ago (1957). Elvis, the Everly Brothers, and Buddy Holly were on top then. There were people that hated Elvis because he played rock & roll. The point is, there is never going to be an all encompassing musical style that reaches everyone. Hip hop and rap have their place just like Zepplin and Aerosmith. Personally, I used to listen to Kiss in the 70's and hair bands in the 80's. Now, it's whatever sounds good at the time. It could be classical or jazz or the blues or classic rock. It just depends on what strikes me at the time. Musical tastes are always going to be different from one person to the next. There is no right or wrong style. Listen to what you like & turn off the stuff you don't. In the end, it's all up to you anyway.

I love rock music, so yes, I agree that there should be more guitar bands around. I think there's something to be had from every genre though, particularly considering how blurred the lines are these days between different 'styles' of music. It never hurts to widen musical taste. I like all sorts of stuff, and a lot of it isn't what I'd consider to be my ''type'' of music.

I completely agree. I think everybody should listen to classic rock, as well as the jazz and blues, and old school rap. J Geils (classic band) rapped on his album. We (young people) need to know how music came to be the music we know.

One vote here! I listen to much classic rock. You named some of my favorites at the top. Let me add Jethro Tull, Ten Years After, Genesis, Moody Blues, ELP and of course, the Rolling Stones, just to name a few of the hundreds I love.

My 7 yr old daughter listens to Buddy Holly, Elvis, The Beatles, Enya, The Hollies, The Archies and Simon and Garfunkle.
We honestly don't know where she started hearing all of this, but she thinks "modern" music is as she puts it, "Silly and a waste of my time"

I know the music that some people call "old" is better than the music they listen to now. My mom listens to oldies and i like them. The lyrics are really awesome.
