that DOESNT say "cause i can" or "cause its fun" i want some one to try and give me a "legitimate" reason..or at least a well thought out response. what reason can you posibly have? (im not asking cause i want to do drugs. im straight edge, i just want to hear from the other side is all.....)

OK this is never what an addict will tell you but they do drugs because
they have no support system
they have low self esteem
they don't recognize their worth
they are ignorant of the dangers
they have an addictive personality and can not help themselves
they have friends who do it too
they are followers not leaders
they are ill

I started doing drugs because I was going through a very painful time in my life, and my reality was too much too bear. I didn't have many people I could talk to, and at the time I was very reserved anyway.
So I took various substances to dull the very demanding circumstances I was dealing with, and it escalated quite far. I haven't don't anything in a long time, but that's because I think I'm a little stronger now.
But all it was for me was like putting ice on an emotional bruise. Not that it was ever a good reason.

I used drugs most every day for over 20 years. St first I liked the feeling. It took me away from bad feelings like anxiety and made me not think about problems in my life. After a while all of the people I associated with used too. It got so that it was not good at all. Arrests, many strange situations, dangerous situations and people, compromising my morals....I could go on. It got bad enough for me to decide to do something else. I have been clean for years. Want to go to a NA meeting with me tonight, you'll leave with a better understanding of why.

to get away. People do drugs because whatever there doing or living through cant be worse than doing drugs. The catch 22 is that once you start doing it, it only lasts for a short period of time and then when its over, you realize how bad your life is again. So you do it again. And again. its a vicious cycle to avoid taking responsibility for the problems in your life.
i dont do drugs, but i know and have helped people who do.

You are a researcher in a controlled environment with medical staff on hand and you are trying to prove that it is bad to do drugs by doing drugs and recording the negative results.
And, you want to get wasted.

You must feel really above everyone else, don't you. Chances are, you're not.
