My 2003 Toyota Corolla has 99,000 miles on it. I was told that I could let the car go about 2000 over the due date for an oil change. It's currently over 1500 miles since the due date (making it 4500 since last oil change).

I only drove it an extra 5 miles home when the problem occurred. It doesn't accelerate easily, and if I let go of the gas for even a second, the car slows down tremendously.

I'm getting the oil changed tomorrow morning first thing, but I'm afraid I can't make it to the Toyota dealer, which is about 10 miles away. How many miles do you think my car can make?

What kind of repairs / costs will be necessary for repairs if it breaks down? (Sorry, very worried.)

And yes, I learned my lesson. I will be getting the oil changed on time from this day on.

Most important- Can my car make it 10 miles to the oil change place??? That's what I'm most worried about.

Its not from an overdue oil change, but that too can cause serious problems.

A lot of things could cause that problem such as a bad O2 sensor, bad gas, you tranny playing games, your park brake on, your brakes not disengaging...ect When in park will your engine rev normal? Is your check engine light on? Did you recently mess with anything under the hood that could have started the problem?

It's nothing to do with the oil. Modern oils go for 8 or 9 thousand miles before they break down. If the car slows down that much when you let go of the gas, it sounds more like brakes dragging.

The poor acceleration shouldn't be related to a late oil change. Although 3,000 miles is the most popular limit for an oil change, it is overkill for an engine in good condition. Your service manual probably says to change it every 7,500 miles.
You have another issue going on. You have not provided enough information for anyone to be able to properly diagnose the problem.
Your Toyota dealer will be able to help.

Good luck

if i were you i would get the oil filter, the air filter, spark plugs all changed and run some Gumout into your gas tank just to clean out the lines after all that it should be running fine. The oil alone cant be the problem, you can go 10,000 miles on oil and it wont do that by itself. your filters are dirty, your spark plugs are probably old as dirt, and your fuel lines always build up residue.

don,t think your oil change delay is related.......did you check your oil level ?...............did you use your parking brake lately?.............check to make sure your brake,s aren,t hanging up.................is it an automatic transmission?.........check to make sure it,s not stuck in low gear.......other than that.......more detail will be needed to provide a more accurate analysis...............................as long as your oil level is good......you should not have any problem making it to your oil change place!
