Learning how to spell "in" would be a good start.

Of course, you wouldn't want to put yourself in a situation where your peers think you are stuck up or that you may have a superiority complex, so try to be a role-model without looking like a prude. If you get along with your peers and can joke around with them, say something like, "Okay guys, chill out so the teacher can get this taught and we don't have to go over it again and again," with a huge smile on your face. Or in a light-hearted, joking manner say, "I thought we were 16 here (or whatever your age group is). My little sister can do better than this on a bad day!" Just don't be rude, cutting, or loud when you say something that might draw their attention to their lack of maturity as it could put you in an ugly place.

Be consistent with your mature behavior, but don't act like you're 80. Everyone needs to be silly sometimes, and that's okay. My 48 year old hubby and his buddies can act so child-like sometimes, that I have to remind them that I'm not running a day care for toddlers. If your friends look up to you, you can be their strongest role model by displaying appropriate behaviors at the appropriate times.

If you have problems getting along with your peers, just try to be patient and remember that this too shall pass. I wouldn't recommend you use the above mentioned comments on kids with whom you don't get along. Good luck! Annie

OMG, it's the same here. Just hang out with friends that aren't usually STUPID is all I usually do. It works well. Also, don't get into any of their WEIRD fads, like pencil tapping (the 8th and 7th graders claim it's SO cool, though we at NC, not Central, were doing that in 4th grade!!!)

As you progress in your years, you will see that this kind of behavior is not limited to the confines of your school. It is rampant throughout the world, and you will encounter it in various ways throughout the rest of your life. What can you do? Try to associate with those who are like-minded, and have patience for those who are not, as sometimes you need them.

Show off your maturity. I don't mean that you should be stuck up about it (that in itself would be immature). Just continue acting in that mature way of yours, and hopefully others will follow your lead. Don't worry; your classmates will eventually grow up.

We all mature at different rates, and have different priorities at different ages. Don't let it get to you. (Who knows, maybe in a couple of years or so, you'll look back at your age and realize how immature you were then.)

If you only want to sort of get past it, you are not ready. Be young as you are for crying out loud. Why are we so eager to be adults?
