If you are a categorical pacifist, and believe that fighting for any reason is a sin. (Thou shalt not kill!) Then you wouldn't support our troops-- whether they are at war or not. By those standards, being in the military implies the willingness to fight, whether the military is inactive during a time of peace, or actively participating in an armed conflict. Thus, it would be considered wrong to don a military uniform, period. The Quakers (Friends church) are of this belief, as are several other religions.

I don't support our troops. And the only reason I don't outright despise them is because I know that many have no clue why they're going to Iraq, and many are in the army because they need the money.
I don't support our troops because they have done too much damage to the innocent civilians of a once-beautiful country. I wouldn't say this if it wasn't out of personal experiance. A cousin of mine (only seven at the time) had both his legs blown off by American soldiers a couple years ago, another cousin was killed in that same explosion-- they were walking home from school.
My uncle was taken to Abu Ghreeb one night when he was trying to buy bread for his family-- he did absolutely nothing wrong, and was released only after his wife was forced to undergo months of painstaking searching and questioning of the troops detaining him.
My grandparents were nearly killed in their home about six months ago when troops opened fire through their living room window, where they were sleeping.
These are just a couple examples of things that troops have done that have directly affected me. There is also an army base a few miles from my home (in Chicago), and I receive many racist and prejudiced remarks from troops. Though I know a couple troops, enough to let me know that they are not all bad, I still do not support them. And a note to those who do support them: If you support and love them so much, why don't you want them back home?

well the only reason I see is because the way they are treating the prisoners. There is no excuse for that. The are acting like animals and just because our enemies do it or don;t it doesn't make it alright...we should be better than that.
As for NOT supporting them its not that we shouldn't support the troops but we shouldn't support a war. No one ever wins in a war...violence is never an answer. We should learn to love but that is beyond most humans and they always think an eye for an eye.

I can't think of anything either. The american soldiers are the ones making the supreme sacrafice. You may not support the war, I don't either, but there is no reason not to support the troops.

Is this for a debate or something?
I'd hate to be you, b/c I feel the same way.
OK let's see.
The fact that America will not become a giant spittoon when the boys come home, the way it was during Nam,
only lets Bush off of the hook. He gets to feel that, well, if they die, that's a numerical probability that's not personal. BUt when they come back, hey, they'll ave all the love and support they need, so it's GOT to be OK.
Crappy, hunh?
MAybe you can brainstorm from there, though.

Anyone that doesn't support our troops needs to keep it to themselves. There are alot of good men and women over there defending that deserve respect. There are also soldiers
dying while they protect us from people that think their "god"
told them to kill as many people as they could before they were allowed to come home. You tell me what side you'd rather be on, the honest soldier defending what is right or the
cave rat who's only belief is to kill as many as possible then go
hide like the scared rats they are!
