The average margin of victory for a #1 seed vs. a #16 seed is approximately 24 points. If I recall the stats correctly, only 11 of the 88 matchups have ended with a single digit margin of victory.
The closest call I can remember was when Princeton lost to Georgetown by 2.

Never. *knock on wood* Kansas has flaked out of the tournament in the first round for the last 2 years, losing to Bucknell and then Bradley...they weren't a number 1 seed then though...
