Yes, actually girls and women can be circumcised. When a female is circumcised, the clitoris is removed. Notice that I did not say "surgically" removed. While it may be the case that some female circumcisions are done surgically, not all of them are. In some cultures, the female circumcision goes hand in hand with the stitching of the vaginal opening so that it is nearly closed. These procedures are sometimes done with the nearest sharpened stone or piece of glass and little to no anesthesia.
Female circumcision is not legal in the US.
Do a search for "female genital mutilation" and "female circumcision" and you may learn some things you'd rather not know.

A top answer from Bound... excellent info!
All I can add to that is curcumcision of females is an abhorant, evil & completely unnecessary act. It is another way for men to have "power over women" by denying basic human rights.
It is illegal in most western, non-muslim/African countries and it should be made illegal worldwide.
I used to live in Tanzania & Kenya - a close friend of mine is a Somali/Kenyan lady and she was circumcised at the age of 3.
She has extremely vivid nightmares of what was done to her, even now (she is 32).
Her mother, aunties & the tribal matriarch removed her clitorus & stiched almost all of her vagina/labia closed save for a small hole for urination.
They used a rusty, blunt shaving blade to do it, no anaesthetic or bandages. She was unable to properly urinate for over a month because of wound infections & bleeding.
She has suffered countless infections because it is impossible to properly clean the area and will later this year have surgery to open the vagina so she can have children.
She has never experiened the basic human right of sexual pleasure & it was a cause of her 1st marriage disintergrating.
Anyone who advocates or performs this procedure should have the same thing done to them in the most painful manner - "do unto yourself as you do to others" is my motto.

If you don't live in the US, it is illegal! Places in Africa and Egypt circumcise girls. If you look it up on the internet it is not very nice or useful thing to do. You pretty much take away a woman's chance of ever having a orgasm and they end up having very painful sex, child birth, and so on.

Even though this is probably a bogus question, the funny thing is that my youngest daughter was born in 1993. When I got the breakdown of the hospital bill they actually charged me for a circumcision! I called them and told them that either they gave me the wrong baby or they cut too much off! Girls cannot be circumcized though.....

Nope. Circumscision is the removal of the flap of skin over the penis. If you don't have a penis, you can't get it cut off.
