Hogan's family does go by Hogan onstage that way to avoid confusion. Ventura ran under that name because really, who in the world knows him as James Janos? Its the same reason The Rock was using the name The Rock in movies because no one knew who Dwayne Johnson is, but every one knows The Rock. You ask someone who Terrence “Terry” Bollea is and odds are, they don't know, but ask who's Hulk Hogan and that's a different story.

the hogan name is used for everything but signing papers and buying cars, etc.
same exact thing with ventura he wanted people to know who he was if he had used janos, people would have been who the hell is that
