I'm just a young girl minding my own business. The new rules of random stop and search in subways and buses...is this necessary?

The subway has thousands of entrances that terrorists can get thru with no detection. Does Bush think manning only a handful of entrances is going to stop a terrorist?
Soon the govt will have the right to stop me anytime anywhere to seach my bag for NO APPARENT REASON. I was just WALKING for godsake! What is this..communist china?

MEANWHILE, MEXICAN AND CANADIAN BORDERS ARE WIDE OPEN!! WHO'S MANNING THE BORDERS?

All brought to you courtesy of the Patriot Act. If that's not fascist, I don't know what is.

You are quite correct about the borders. No argument from me on that subject. However, don't be miffed if you were stopped and had your bag opened in NYC. Be glad that there is a "little" safety going on in the USA. All of this crap is required because of the damned terrorists which many still do not take seriously. They blame 9/11 on the man in the moon and forget that it was Al Gaeda who perpetrated the crime. Let them search but the search should go further. It should go into the Mosques where weapons may be stashed away for future use. I would stop and search every Muslim on the street, even going into their apartments. Let's face it. We are at war and the American people should recognize it now otherwise we will be destroyed. Too much freedom will be our downfall.

Not in George Bush's America...... the fourth amendment - gone. the first amendment is next. Get ready for a full-on police state when hillary takes over.

the mexican and canadian borders are open because of the North American Union that is underway. It is being instituted in the same fashion the EU was.

The terrorism issue has not really been addressed in a logical manner. The government is just doing these things to make a show of action concening the problem. It makes them look like they are actually doing something, and people buy into it. I doubt they really care what happens, as long as they can get rich and keep on pretending that they are actually helping America!

Correct on all counts. Under the "laws" (unconstitutional though they are) perpetrated by the Bush administration, you do not in fact have any rights whatsoever--except those the state is generous enough to allow you. Which--since they claim the power to revoke those rights without cause and without due process or right of appeal--means that you in fact have no rights at all.

Welcome to "1984"--Orwell jsut got the date wrong.

i dont understand why you are blaming bush. do you think bush personally made the police search your bag? are you on drugs at this very moment? this is not just homeland security, but the NYC government as well. Don't be such a freak. The subway is owned the gov't, if you ride it, follow their rules. if you don't want your little bag searched, then walk it.

Currently, the right of everyone else to security trumps your "right" to privacy. Oh, by the way, did you know that our beloved Constitution says not a word about "privacy" or it being a right?
