They're taking stabs at you now---because they've probably already gathered the understanding that in a few years---you'll be so out of their "class" and "unavailable" that they won't ever have a chance to express their jealousy and anger at you being so much better off than they are !!!!

It's because science is not a subject that comes easily to most people, and they probably feel a bit jealous that your good at it and enjoy it. Not taking away from your problem, but I get teased alot at school also for liking science and math. My best advice is not to change what you like to fit in with other people or make them stop teasing you!!

Possibilities:
1) They are secretly jealous of you and wish they could have so much scientific knowledge.
2) They 'like' you.
3) They think you're a nerd.
4) The teacher and subject are so 'uncool' that you, being associated with them, are also 'uncool' and therefore are teased. Actually, they're the 'fools'.

Whatever they say, don't listen. Interest in academics is dying quickly, so keep your head high and continue pursuing your interst in learning! (Also, never let them copy your work. They'll be sorry when you're the only one in the class with an A! :D Good luck!)

It's the people who like math and science in secondary school who go on to be successful in college and therefore successful in life. The people who tease you are losers who are jealous of your rational mind (much like some of the losers who answered this question). Don't ever hide your love of science; it will lead you toward great things. Good luck!

Jealousy my friend. I find as a teacher that the most disruptive of all learners are the ones that struggle to understand a concept. They seem to have the mentality "if i can't do it, then I'm not going to let anyone else have a go either"
It seems you are facing a similar problem, have faith in yourself, if it is what you like, and it is what you are good at, stick with it. If you end up getting a job that you really enjoy, then you are set for a happy life. It is those who do not enjoy what they do for a living that are the least happy in this world.

I hope this helps

Fear and jealousy - science is one of the more difficult subjects and people usually shy away from it, so with actually liking it students see you as better as themselves and most people don't like that feeling so in response they tease you don't worry about it.

Well don't worry they're just jealous.

People teased me for the same thing when I was at school. I became a nurse and love my job.
One of the main "teasers"works on the fish counter at tesco(nothing wrong with that but I know which I'd choose)

Be proud of who YOU are.

Good Luck!

because they are sad. if there wasn't people like yourself interested in science then how would we have medicines and other stuff to help us live. dont be ashamed about liking it. ignore those sad gits. if you ever became a doctor or something and one of those people who teased you became ill who do you think they would come to. end of the day your the one laughing not them.

Because THEY feel inferior. People who tease are just trying to drag you DOWN to where THEY are. Don't pay them any attention!! In 20 years you will be smart and they will be flipping burgers as a career.

Some people just don't have anything better to do in their free time. Just ignore them and keep liking science because it's cool.
