sit up straight :) look up , don't slouch down over his neck cause then your balance is all wrong. and it will be smoother and will feel faster. just go with it. relax and enjoy cause its the most comfortable gait :)

Before you try and canter on your own i suggest you have someone more expierenced watch you and sort of give you a lesson. Some horses turn into complete different animals when they canter and sometimes it can get sorta out of control if you dont know what your doing-- its can be very scary and some people just lock up, thats why i suggest you have someone, like a trainer, with you when you try it out! Take a deep breath, relax, and ask for the canter!
Remember--NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS SIT UP STRAIGHT!!!!! If you slouch and\or lean forwards you could cause your horse to lose their balance, not a good thing trust me. But don't let hat scare you cantering is a lot of fun!

I think the canter is much smoother than a trot. if you can ride a trot, you should be able to ride a canter. Just give him his head, and squeeze with your legs

Sit deep in the seat, relax your arms and make sure you keep your legs forwards and your heels back. I'm pretty sure you will do ok if done. It is usually easier if you are riding Western, but I think it will be fine if done English as well.

Try to stay as centered as possible!! It dosent sound very hard but you will natrually lean back. Just keep centered and balenced
