I have a problem every time I am in a group of people for example: clients from work, I get so nervous that I forget what I'm talking about and my confidence level drops to the floor and I just can't have a descent conversation, I stumble all over the place and I feel like running away and not being put to the spot light. I think I may have a communication issues, is there any courses, therapy, anything that can help me boost my communication level or anything that can help me be more confident in public or with a group of people I do not know. I know my job, but when it comes to talk, explain, converse, my mind goes blank. I think it has to do with being nervous and just not confident enough...any feedback is greatly appreciated

To overcome your problems is not an overnight thing. No promises - nothing that will get you your own talk show, but some of these ideas may help.

Theatre and Salesman groups always have people that are nervous to some degree or other when talking to strangers.

Try reading your way through the Self Help books ... even after you think you have it all under control.

Good luck

For me I am self confident but i can't always articulate mind to mouth very well. You have to tell yourself and believe that the people you are talking to need your insight and you are enlightening them. Own your knowledge and keep explanations simple to start. Let them ask questions that peals back the layers of detail that could be divulged. Too much too soon can fumbled out of your mouth and you loose their attention and they are lost. Book knowledge is not owning it and life experience will help you as time goes on. I believe that that is the difference between knowledge and wisdom. You get wise after doing dumb things. I also have frequent drops of what I was going to say, I know it is very frustrating. When giving a speech don't make eye contact until you are ready or asked a question from a person. Scan across the room at foreheads or just a little higher. They can't tell you are not fixed on them. Go into a daze of only the facts and deliver them. This will get you started. You can also start with smaller groups of people and work your way up to larger numbers. Fake it into a camera and play it back so you can see how you are coming across. Hope this helps.
