The only plays witth 2 characters that comes to mind, as I think that is what you are looking for?
Frankie and Johnny at the Clair de Lune. A story about two misfits findling love.
The Chairs - theatre of the absurd at its best.
If you are looking for pieces with only 2 characters that can be done as stand alone pieces I suggest.
Who's afraid of Virgina Wolf [look at the young couple]
When you Coming Back, Red Ryder [the scenes between Angle and Red]
Our Town - [scenes between George and Emily]
Speed the Plow [the scenes between Bobby and Karen]

"The Guys" by Anne Nelson is a fantastic, dramatic play about the effects of 9/11 on a NYC fire captain. The characters are older (40s), but with good acting and minimal make-up, you can pull it off.
It's a very sparse play as far as set goes and has been done as a dramatic reading as well.
Audiences tend to really like it, although it forces them to think about feelings and events they'd rather forget. I did it 2 years ago and it was the best experience of my acting career.
