People pray for things that they can not control. It's a way of feeling in control of those types of situations. Praying is really like a pep talk of sorts, for oneself. No one else is listening.

Prayer is symbolic of the idea of hope and what it will bring to us. If I pray that my test be easy, maybe it will depending on how much I understand the topic and how nice my teacher is. It gives us a possibility and light in a world of darkness.

God is our Father, Think about things you would ask your dad when you were little. When will I get bigger ? Will I learn to read ? Read about God's miracles in the old Testament with Moses when he went to see the Pharaoh. etc. Oh my. I have had many miracles in my life, seriously, I can describe them if you want. Nothing is set in stone with God. He is the stone, The Rock. And God has 3 answers TO PRAYER,: YES,NO AND WAIT, wait is the hardest one.

Any prayer that says any more than thank you is a sign of a lack of faith.
It is the idea that God is not smart enough to know what is in our best interest. Its like saying that God needs us to wise him up.
How likely is that?

If you pray, then it's because you're very ignorant. You need to wake up from you stupor and start living life without depending on a higher source of safety. Quite frankly, I'd say that people who pray are plain stupid.

ahh you seem to have all the answers and nothing that anyone says will suffice. it is ones faith that keeps one going. we pray b/c we believe in the unified belief that GOD died for our sins. and only through HIM, we shall be saved. yes, GOD has given us free will. but, he will also show you what there is to come if you chose eternal life.

God has the ability to influence impending events. We also pray to give thanks and to glorify Him. God created us for fellowship and love, so if we did not pray, we would be neglecting part of our purpose.

Two reasons to pray to God,
Actually Three.
1. For God to intervene in someone’s life you know needs help.
2. For God to intervene in your life because you need help or guidance.
3. Because he like to hear from you.
God will do nothing in your life, because of free will, unless he is invited.
It is a form of communication with God. Keep the line open and he knows whom you are.
