Go to your local Ford dealer parts department and purchase the following parts: ring & pinion kit (3.73 ratio, Ford part number 5L3Z-4209-C), clutch pack kit (Ford part number F5AZ-4947-BA), 3 bottles of 75W140, and 1 bottle of friction modifier.
When installing new components, install to the following specs. Diff. carrier cap bolts should be torqued to 77 ft.-lbs. Ring gear to diff. carrier bolts should be torqued to 77 ft.-lbs. Pinion bearing preload should be set to between 16 to 29 in.-lbs. Ring gear backlash should be set between .008" to .012" with no more than .002" variance. This is running on the assumption that the pinion depth is set properly, using the gauge bar. Hope this helps.

Well the lady said a mouth full. Assuming you understand what she said, you will need the tools and knowlege to do the overhaul. For a couple hundred bucks you can have it down by a pro.
