1. Alternating Current
2. Every turn of the cycle (if the context is just the EM wave)
or Every turn of the shaft (if talking about motors) though it actually changes directions multiple times for each turn of the shaft or cycle (about 6 times for the former and 2 for the latter)
I don't think the question is worded quite right. I think it should be that it changes direction every half turn of the cycle.
3. Devices called transformers... In particular step-up transformers to increase the voltage and step down transformers to decrease the voltage.

AC which stands for Alternating Current. Because it constantly changes direction it is not as dangerous as DC (Direct Current), ie you don't stick to it, you tend to get thrown back. Also AC can be transmitted over long distances with little loss of power. It was invented by Tesla
