Found in 1930, Pluto , the largest known Kuiper belt object, was considered the Solar System's ninth planet. However, in 2006 the International Astronomical Union (IAU) created an official definition of the term "planet". Under this definition, Pluto is reclassified as a dwarf planet, and there are eight planets in the Solar System. In addition to Pluto, the IAU currently recognizes two other dwarf planets: Ceres , the largest object in the asteroid belt, and Eris, which lies beyond the Kuiper belt in a region called the scattered disc.

Not anymore. A bunch of scientists have decided that it is too small to be a planet anymore. But, dang it...I am old school, pluto will always be a planet to me.

personally i think it is. But scientists disagree. Pluto doesn't "stand up" to their expectations. They even had a big cotroversy over Pluto and deny it being a planet. So if you are doing something for school we will have to deny Pluto being a planet.

It isn't anymore. It was considered a planet untill August of last year, when scientists stated that it was considered an alien moon of the solar system.

Nope. But unless you can purchase pluto at a fast food franchise, and eat it, I think you asked this in the wrong topic.

Not any more. Astronomers downgraded it several months ago. Now, we need a new mnemonic to remember the names of the planets (in their order from the sun).

How about: My very educated mother just served us nachos?

No. It was removed from the list last year, as scientists updated the characteristics/ requirements for planets.
