Total guess as you know, but maybe it's "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" by Tracy Lawrence. Like you said you don't know the lyrics, but this song kinda fits what you ask.

Yep I am thinking the Tracey Lawrence song as well "Find out who your friends are" There is a special cut the song where Tim Mcgraw and Kenny Chjesney sing it as well.
But....
theres is another song called "I ve got friends that do" by Tim McGraw which is pretty awesome as well. Some may think its newer because it doesnt seem to be played alot on the radio a lot.

I'm taking a very large guess here, but perphaps it is "Alyssa Lies" by Jason Michael Carroll? A song about his daughter's best friend who is abused? It's new-ish and it is a good song, kind of sad though.
