I think first find out what kind of dinner it is and what the normal dresscode if for his work.

If it's just dinner after work with a small group in the city for exapmle where people would wear suits for work, I'd say wear something like a black pant and a retro one coloured top, high heels and get your individual style with the accessories. Perhaps a colourful belt or bangels? Keep it simple and sofisticated as you might end up sitting next to his boss.

If it's a larger nicer do with a dresscode like cocktail or blacktie I'd wear a nice flowy dress about knee length, this would work for black tie as well so you wouldn't be over or under dressed. But nothing too provocative like a massive clevage, classy is always better for a work do... especially when you don't know the people.

Have fun.

You could wear something which is a bit revealing but not too much. Maybe a short skirt with a covering but classy top or a revealing top with a classy knee length but tight fitting skirt. This way you get a mixture of retro flirty style but it is still a bit classy! good luck and have a terrific time!

little black dress never fails, but to funk it up hows about a thick belt worn under the bust, think audrey hepburn, hair swept up and back, over sized pearl necklace, and if u dare why dont u try some long black gloves to keep in with your flirty retro style? hava nice evening!

Could try metallics or monochrome, they are both in this season.
You could never go wrong with black/white and you could make it look classy and impressive. Silvers good style too. River Island have got some nice clothes in at the mo, so have H&M.
Look magazine is good for the latest in fashion trends!!!

get a nice V neck sleak blue dress
it would go to your knees and have thin straps
that way it looks sexy but is still good for a nice work dinner
