Starla was correct. You file a Motion to reduce support, but you have to have grounds to support it, like reduced income for you or increased income for her. Another ground might be a child becoming 18 or leaving home or moving in with you. You should continue to pay until the case is heard. Then the reduction becomes retroactive from the date you filed the motion. DO NOT STOP PAYING WHILE YOU WAIT FOR THE COURT DATE---OR YOU'LL BE IN CONTEMPT OF COURT. Can you afford a one hour consultation with an atty? That would be very helpful.

You file for a modification of child support with the court where your current order is. You go to a hearing, provide new financial information and maybe, if you qualify, the amount gets lowered.

If your income has dropped you can get a new order on the amount you pay. When your income goes back up the mother has every right to get it modified back up.
Remember these are your kids we are talking about here. If you are looking to lower what you pay to support them make sure in your heart there is no other way to get by.

there are several options;
1) dont drive an auto with payments, single parents dont
2) pack your lunch, single parents do
3) get a roomate
4) go to the food bank weekly; single parents do
5) babysit the kids or run them to their errands (doctors, dentist, eye exams, sports, school events, etc) to help child support lower a bit.
its hard on everyone; you, the ex, the kids, but we all do the best we can with what we have... for the best interest of the child(ren).

Quit making money or accelerate your kids aging so they become 18 overnight.
