The last time I was into Dire Straits was when I was about 15 and "Money for Nothing" came out, with Sting. I had previously been a big Police fan, so anything to do with any of the band members I would just gobble up.

I wasn't really into them before that, probably just due to my age, but I respect Sultans of Swing.

I remember this guy wanted to trade his Tears for Fears album (vinyl) for my Dire Straits one. I liked that band a lot too, but didn't trust the guy. I like my album just as it was.

The 80's had a lot of amazing music, but when I say that I'm not really referring to that band. More like The Smiths, The Cure, JAMC, stuff like that. That was alternative music a few years before alternative became the mainstream.

Two days before I filed for my divorce. I was locked out of our store with no car and only 2 weeks worth of money. By the time I filed I was riding a borrowed bike to my new minimum wage job.

Now 10 years later...

Typing this today from my own store, car in drive, worries are few and I know the worst can try to happen, there is always a way back or even better.

It would depend on what you consider "dire straits".

right now judas...right now =(

I have no heat in my apartment. My radiators are cold as stone. I am wearing a winter coat, a scarf, gloves, and a hat. I slept in my knitted Irish hat last night. I stayed under my down comforter reading, until 12:30 pm today. This is unheard-of behavior. But I could see my breath in my stupid apartment.

I just now cooked for the week - (I cook in bulk.) And I kept the oven door open, and sat beside it, toasting my feet.

What is this - the 17th century?

My next-door neighbor said the same was true for him - only he admitted that he is "warm-blooded" and it doesn't bother him. His girlfriend, standing in the doorway with a scarf wrapped around her head, piped in, "It bothers ME."

Something must be done.

When I did the 'Walk of Life.' Those 'Sultans of Swing' always said they wanted 'Money For Nothing.' While 'Private Investigations' can show after 'Calling Elvis,' they actually said that was 'So Far Away' from the truth.
