First let me say that the likelihood is that there is nothing really wrong. But I must start by saying that when a woman of childbearing age says that she has missed a period, there is a saying in the medical profession that she is pregnant until proved otherwise.

So I am pleased to hear that you are quite certain this is not possible in your case. Of course, the only way to be absolutely sure is if you have not had sexual intercourse, because there are no methods of contraception that are completely foolproof.

So if there is the slightest possibility, do a pregnancy test, just to be on the safe side. I hope you don't think that I don't believe you; it is just that I would not be advising you properly if I did not mention this.

So let's assume that pregnancy can be 100 per cent ruled out.

Missing a period at your age is not that uncommon, but if your periods are normally as regular as clockwork, then there may be a reason for this.

It could be associated with a number of things, including excessive exercise, such as in intensive athletic training. It can be associated with stress, or some recent illness upsetting your hormone balance. It can also be associated with too vigorous dieting, and if a young woman diets strictly and loses too much weight, her periods can stop all together.

The loss that you are experiencing is probably hormonal in origin, and may be your period attempting to start but not doing so properly. The bloating and tenderness of your stomach would fit with a hormonal imbalance.

I think if you are otherwise well, and none of the above things apply, then it is reasonable to wait and see if this loss clears up and whether you miss another period. If you start a period, then this is just a temporary hiccup, and it all may go back to normal, but if you do miss another period, or if this intermittent slight loss continues, then I think you should seek medical advice.

But on the strength of this one episode, it does not really set any alarm bells ringing.

Yours sincerely

it depends on how long you've had it. if you just got it for the first time a little while ago, don't stress about it, its just regulating. if its been a while it might just be because you're stressed, nervous, going through constant emotional changes, or you could just be thinking about it to much. sometimes when you believe something is wrong strong enough, you can cause it to happen.

There are many reasons this can happen.Too much exercise is one but you should see a doctor if you go 3 months. They can give you progesterone type meds to start your period.

Some people just have irregular periods. It's very common. If you're alarmed, perhaps you should make a doctor's appointment, just to make sure it's not something else.

It could be a change in the weather depending where you live or a change in diet. If you have increased your exercise that can have an effect on it too.

try to see your doctor to see what's wrong. you may have a infection or some kind of problem that causes your period to do this. you may have to be on antibiotics to help get your period back to normal
