can clothes get worked into the space between the inside bottom of the drum and disappear without a trace? if so, is there an easy way to retreive them?

It's definitely possible to lose small items.I've repaired machines that I have removed baby socks from the drain lines.Also, if the washer is overloaded and it's an older washing machine where the drum wobbles (out of round) some wash may slip over the top at some point in the filling stages.

I truly believe there are Gremlins in the washer. I have countless "only socks". Have no clue where the other one is...Once, we DID find one trying to sneak out of the drain pipe, leading into the wall. We could only imagine that somehow, the sock had gotten behind the drum.

Probably not, but it sure seems that way sometimes. It could be that when loading the washer, clothes may pushed in between the inner and outer tub. Then the only way to get them out would be to either fish them out or pull the inner tub.

LOL!!! I don't think so though!!
I often find that when I Think I have lost something I was SURE I put in there, I actually didn't, and end up finding it under my bed, or in the bottom of the Hamper...!!

I used to think there was another dimension for socks when they got lost in the dryer but they are there somewhere. Nothing's easy.
