Nelson Mandela will go down in history as one of the most prominent men of all time.
His bravery and resilience, having been incarcerated by the South African Government, has been accepted internationally but at the same time he has acted with dignity and shown the people of South Africa how all people can work together with mutual respect. That is what is necessary in many other countries to bring them into the 'modern world'.

Brad Morris doesn't live in SA. I do and it's a GREAT country with many social problems originating amongst other from SA's past. No one can deny that SA is a very complex country. And yes, the government isn't good at all. But I'd rather live in the my home country which is the most beautiful and one of the friendliest than in the West. The morally bankruptcy and selfishness (it'll lead to their downfall in my opinion) of so many people there (not everyone, but that usually happens when people are getting rich very fast) is for me more shocking and worrying than SA's high violent crime rate committed by a small % of SA's vibrant and helpful population. 93% of SA's people donate money and charity causes. So my point is... I love South Africa and love living in what you refer to as a warzone.. but when I look out of the window I see absolutely nothing. I know this answer will be voted down... but I see it as the truth hurts.. lol (joke! ok?), because I can see there is a sortof consipracy to vote all answers down that are pro-South Africa. But I don't mind because I love this place and will build for a better future. Just visit a township and you'll see what I mean. The potential that lies in that communities is amazing.

***********

Thanks for the support everyone. Brad, the thing is... you make statements about SA why you live in USA.. and you say you're saddened what SA has become. Remember that 90% of SA's people had no human dignity for ages - and to take that away from someone is a lot worse than not giving him material things (many poor people are now worse off than pre-1994 in terms of material things, but at least they're now regarded as humans - we're all equal before God after all despite our different level of development). Now, after about 400 years of oppression we are trying to somehow create a multi-cultural environment where everyone can live together. It's just a miracle that we don't have a civil unrest. Crime has been very high before 1994 too (also due to the ANC's violent appraoch!) and it'll take many years to solve it. Give SA time... In the same breath I have to say that I'll be quite concerned about SA's future if the economy stop growing at the pace it is now.

Nelson Mandela was and still is a terrorist and a murderer. How can you let a murderer become the president of a country?! He's NO hero. He's a black criminal just like the rest.

Well said Malan.

If we did not have hope we wouldn't be here.

I love SA!!

He certainly did not.
All that was accomplished by making a hardened communist and terrorist president of this country, was that one kind of racism, apartheid was replaced with many forms of racism towards whites this time around (BEE, AA, violent crimes etc......).
Use your mind and stop believing all the liberal leftist propaganda you see everywhere.
