The tie has it's origin in the Croatian mercenary army and like most armies before it was exclusively made up of men. When wearing ties came over to civilian use it was still associated with men and mainly still is today. Some women do on occasion wear ties but society at large still has them mainly associated with men so women wearing ties look masculine.

I used to wear ties in my late teens/early 20s in a weird dress phase I was going through which included waistcoats and my dad`s flat caps. At the time I was really proud of my collection of ties. Fortunately I have seen sense and such items of clothing have been passed to a local charity shop.

Ties are STUPID! I mean, look at 'em! Little strips of cloth, serving no purpose. Besides, women do NOT "like to copy ALL the things men do"...mostly; they want equality.

It's a phallic symbol.
It also represents the noose around the neck of the middle class.
It's also uncomfortable.
besides, some women do wear ties, either becuase their work uniform requires it (for example, Dell's Geek Squad) or becuase their gender identity is androgynous.

Fashion codes? I don't really care. I wear whatever I like, from frilly skirts to men's clothing. I've worn suspenders. I think society's fashion codes are stupid, and usually boring. Most people are partially robotic. They fall into the same traps without realizing it. No part of me is robot, and if it is it's malfunctioning.
