Yeah so I played all through middle school and a little bit in my freshman year(I couldnt play the whole season because I had stomach ulsers). I also played basketball all my life. My football coach thinks that I could be a great player but only be cause im 6'6" 250+. Im not really strong compared to the rest of the team and to tell the truth I never really liked football. The only reason I Played is because everyone always expected me to. But not playing for my freshman year made me realize how good i could be if I just centered on basketball for the rest of high school. I was just wondering if there way any way to tell him that i don't want to play without being disrespectful.

Just tell him that football isn't as much fun to play as it used to be, and it's no longer a priority in your life.

Also, explain to him that you think you might be able to get a basketball scholarship if you work hard enough at it, but you won't if you have to spend 3 or 4 months a year on football.

If your football coach is any good, he should know, first and foremost, that it doesn't do the team any good to have players out there that don't want to be there.

Good luck to you! Hope basketball works out for you the way you hope it will!

Are you planning on going to college?

You will get a more serious look from the colleges if you play multiple sports. Quit football after High school.

Uh..."Coach, I quit..."

Not too hard...Seriously...Just tell him you think you are better at basketball...I don't think he would come down hard on you...Obviously, you aren't the star...(no offense) otherwise you wouldn't have doubts about football...
