If over the counter products aren't working. It's time to go to a dermatologist.

I've been in the same boat and am glad I finally went to see one. The products worked and my skin looked so much better. More importantly, I think I avoided more scarring. (I have a few light scars from my teen years.)

Hey,
Me too. I've got crazy skin and I can't afford Proactive. So here's a few tips:

Get into a routine. Pimples are caused by what's inside, so continually fighting the bacteria will help prevent breakouts. I use generic Cetaphil and its awesome.

As you probably already know, you have to cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize. If you use a medical spot treatment like salicylic acid, just put it on the zit and don't overdo it. I've been there, and my cheek was red and raw. Not fun.

With this area of health sometimes it is just a matter of luck. But you can do what you can to avoid breakouts. Don't touch your face, drink lots of water, that kind of thing.

Hope that helps.

my sis tried proactive and has the same problem. Washing your face and applying cleanser will help clean pores. You can put some cover up on them. But to much can cause rashes. I think washing your face with hot water and applying oil free lotion should help you.

keep using the proactive, it doesn't work immediately for some people, p diddy had to use it for a few years for his skin to be smooth, or maybe you should try laser skin surgery if you can afford it

Check your diet. A lot of greasy foods and caffiene can affect your skin. Drink a lot of water, that will help. Dermatologists all say so.
