You will get used to being home alone... After I got divorced, I moved to an apartment by myself, and got very used to being alone. In four years, I moved in with my husband, and now I too get nervous being alone at night if he's out of town on business. It's quite an irrational feeling, but I'm simply used to having someone with me all the time.
Make sure that your house is safe and secure, and doors and windows are locked; you can turn on the porch light if you have one, and close the blinds at night. Set a security alarm if you have it. Other than that - you just have to get your mind off of the fact that you're alone. Find things to do. Read a good book, try out a new recipe, bake some brownies. You can look into picking up some new hobbies or taking a class at a local community college. Get involved in a sport. Try video games - my friends got me into playing World of Warcraft, and now I can spend hours playing it when my husband is gone; makes time fly, it's fun. Consider getting a pet - a cat, a dog, a guinea pig, a mouse. Fish are a lot of fun to keep if you really get into it. It kind of depends on what you like to do in general - but there are so many things you can have fun with besides watching TV. The whole time I lived alone, I didn't even have a TV, and I was always busy.
P.S. LOL We live in CA, and my husband's family is in VA.
P.P.S. If you have a ton of time on your hands, you can always learn a second language - take a class or get a good beginner book. I was kinda getting tired of my everyday routine, so I got me a book "How to read Egyptian Hieroglyphs", and I'm learning to read hieroglyphic inscriptions... It's fascinating.

Stay on Yahoo Answers and ask questions. Seriously, take up a craft hobby. I started doing a couple of things. Latchhook crochet and crossstitching. I swear by them. I do them for my daughter and she loves them and my wife is amazed at the same time. You will learn a new skill and it's fun being creative.

Can you get a dog (great company, and a big one might alleviate some of your fears, which I'm guessing are attached to strangers in your new strange land)? If not, read, exercise, join a civic organization or church (safe places to meet safe people). Be careful not to fall for any smooth talking guys just looking for lonely lovelies.

you're married? and not even 21? wow, well i suppose you could do some kind of home-renovation project to surprise him when he gets home, maybe go to an art supply store and start painting, do boring things you would never do, like organize your bills and stuff, take an aerobics class so that you can MAKE friends
