If the name is Briana (pronounced Bree ann uh), how would you spell the nickname Bri. Would it be Bri, Brie, Bree, Bre, etc.? If you want to include a reason too, that would be great, thanks.

My nieces name is Brianna and her nickname is spelled Bri. It's easy. Just like her name. Brie is spelled like the cheese. Bre is like bread and Bree reminds me of the housewife.

I debate the spellings of nicknames all the time. When I was pregnant we talked about the name Alyssa and the nickname Aly but I prefered the spelling Ally but didn't like Allyssa.

I think about other names with common nicknames like Abigail and Abby. Why isn't it Aby? Abby is just prettier and it won't be mispronounced A-Bee or A-By.

If you are going to call her by her nickname most of the time and think she will use it more than her formal name then I would spell it whichever way is your favorite. I like the spelling Bree or Brie the best personally. If you are actually going to call her Briana and just use the nickname occasionally then I would go with Bri. Quick and easy. It isn't what you will write when signing cards or anything. Make sense? lol

If you are picking the name because you like the nickname Brie how about Gabrielle? I love this name with the nickname Brie. Also Brielle is beautiful too and there won't be any confusion on the spelling.

Good Luck! SD

I would spell it "Bree." For some reason, it looks less like a nickname than "Bri" and will work better as she gets older and is an adult.
Please keep in mind that if you use "Brie" it is the same spelling as the cheese, and while little kids may not know that, one day she will meet someone and have to say "B-r-i-e, just like the cheese."

If the name is Brianna and the nickname is Bri - I would spell it Bri since that is the shortened version of the name - if you prefer Bree you could name her Breanna.

Bree would be easiest for most people to see and say they way you want them to. Plus, Bree isnt too far away from Bri. If you go with Bri, some people might try to say "brih" instead, but its not hard to correct that. If you want something completely different you could go with Breigh.

Bri - just cut out the letters from the name not being used in the pronouncation.

Spell it like Bree that way it will be pronounced right. Otherwise there will be idiots who will say Bri as Bry( rhymes with try) It looks cute spelled that way

Not Brie because of the cheese.
I would say Bri because of the spelling of the original name.
If you spelled it Breana, then spell the nickname Bre.
