i know what its like to be dis advantaged and not that i am more stable i give cash to ppl to ask or smokes, some ppl i kno say they wont give it to them cause they will buy drugs/alcohol, well ive bought beer for them before! anything to make them a little happier in their situation and if i DO talk about it! its because i KNOW the homeless person! and i say i ran into so and so.u gotta give it away to keep it! and i think bragging negates that somehow!

Even though your neighbor may be rich in earthly wealth, she obviously finds a need to be praised for every tiny good deed she does because she does not feel very good about herself.
If she was really going to help the homeless, she should volunteer some time in a soup kitchen or homeless shelter. Handing someone a dollar is not a bad thing, but bragging about it is just wrong.
I know some local children who have chosen to use their allowance at the ages of less than ten years old, bought the makings for soup and sandwiches, made up the meals, and brought those items to homeless people who reside on the streets. That shows more heart and caring for humanity than handing out dollars.
I am an average working person, but I have never found the need to brag about anything I have done for my fellow human beings, my payment is the look in their eyes when I know that I have truly shared part of my life with someone who needs help, but may be too proud to ask for it.
My greatest payment is between God and myself, knowing that I am helping others is just a wonderful feeling.
I pray that your neighbor never loses her "riches," because she is not connected to the real world at all.
Have a good night, and you were smart to resist slapping her, no matter how tempting in the moment.....

Because people need to do that one good deed to make them feel lik they are a good person. However if your giving just a dollar you don't have much to be proud about. If they want to impress me say you gave $200 or more, not just a dollar. I don't think that people should brag about that, but its just human nature and like I said before they feel like if they do that one good deed, it means they are a good person. I personally don't brag about the good things I have done because doing a few little things here and there isn't going to make up for all the proverty in the world. I know its frustrating to hear someone brag about such a stupid thing, but next time speak up if you feel that they are being ignorant because they probably are.

When people brag about something like that, it is usually because they did it primarily in order to brag about it.
