I once dropped my cell phone in water and it didn't work for a few hours (it had been completely submerged). Then the next day after it had dried, it went back to full working condition, so I believe that there is hope for your phone. Give it time.

It may be fried or there could be a chance for survival.

First thing is to remove the battery so there is no chance of any more short circuits from happening.

You can see if it can be repaired but that may turn out to be as much as a whole phone and can be quite disapointing if even then it doesn't work. If you go the repair route try to find someone who will garentee the work you might get lucky and find someone who won't charge if they can't fix it.

You can see if your plan gives you the option of a new phone sometimes for free or at a discount.

You can let it dry for a week or so, you could try it then but there may still be minute amounts of salt or other conductive minerals that were left behind when the water evaporated.
before completely ditching the phone you might want to see if you can clean out the minerals your self by rinsing the phone in distilled water. Its important to use distilled so you arn't adding more minerals into the phone, then let the phone dry but not with direct heat and then a week or so later you can reinstall the battery and see if it works. I can't garentee anything because the phone could have damaged itself in the beginning but if you are going to get rid of the phone anyway its worth a cheap bottle of distilled water and some time.

Good luck!

I did this too! Mine never recovered. You could try using the hairdryer on it and then leaving it somewhere warm for a while but generally they pack up....

unfortunately, after it dries, if it isn't in working condition then it never will be again.
