If you are a part of an HOA then you should have been given a copy of the bylaws. contact your HOA president and they will provide you one if you don't have it.

The most important documents regarding your rights are the CC&Rs and the Bylaws. Beyond that, homeowner rights are a matter of state law. Nearly every state has statutes that cover HOA law. You best bet is to contact the Community Association Institute to get a referral for resources for your state. Check out the link below.

Read the CC&Rs and bylaws that were given to you when you purchased the property. That tells you exact what you got yourself into.
