What did you think of it? I loved it, I recommend it to everyone, cried for half of the book!

I read it years ago, when it first came out in hardback-- gosh, I just checked and that was in 1989!! It was such a good book! I'm glad to see it's back in print. It was so well written. By coincidence, a channel was running the old George Burns Show here then and I was watching it, so I could just hear the character do the "Say goodnight, Gracie" bit and how annoyed the girl would get. The author just drew you right in from the start, so even though you knew what was going to happen you just had to keep reading like that was going to change the outcome or something.

Thanks for reminding me of this one! I just realized that I never read anything else by her-- "Gracie" was her first novel-- so I may have to go see what else she has out. I don't think she could possibly have done another one as good.

I second your recommendation!

I didn't read that one but I do have Gracie: A Love Story. I thought it was wonderful, and I learned a lot about George and Gracie, and even some of the stars they worked with. She was so different from her character, and I think she must have been hard to live with sometimes.
