I have collected sports memorabilia for many years, and am interested in making it a source of income; or working job if you will. And I am just wondering; Is sports memorabilia worth the bother? And will it be a successful form of small-business?

If you commit yourself to aquiring good stuff then you can probably have success. It requires alot of legwork in the sense of getting autographs, pictures and marketing yourself. Some of the prices this stuff fetches is sometimes outrageous

I'd say no...everybody wants the hot newest thing. If you do have anything like a Babe Ruth auto or Lou gehrig auto...things of that nature sell for high book but how many of those is a guy gonna have? Test the waters on ebay w/something, but be sure to reserve price it so you don't lose it. From what I've seen over the years everybody wants something for nothing! Good Luck

I would say Ebay has taken away from the small sport memorabelia store. Its just very easy to use. I have also in my area seen a chain of sports memorabelia stores but those also get by with clothing and other hobbies.

if you find the right item and let it sit for a couple of years it may grow in retail value. But the market for such memorabilia is very inconsistant

oh heck yah. im a HUGE collecter myself-lots of pittsburgh stuff. a good idea is to go to games and try to catch a foul ball or ask for an autograph. once i got lucky and got a game puck in a penguin game. cards are a good idea too. do you have a lot of jersey cards or memerbrilia cards? i do, and if id sell them, they'd make good money
