obviously you wouldn't know about it once you are dead then if there was nothing, but would you think of life different than you do now? e.g what then is the point of all this life/living stuff? is someone or something just bored and tinkering with us just like we tinker with mice?

Dude, if this is all you get - it's not so bad!

Flowers, breeze, beaches, skiing, music, the new things you learned today - etc, etc, etc.

The high you get from a great workout. The butterflies you feel with new love. The pursuit of your happiness. Patting yourself on the back when you helped someone out.
And OMG, holding your new baby.

You get the present and the memories of your past and the hopes for your future. Don't waste a moment worrying about what's missing - use today to build a foundation for your future (through education, friends, health) - and enjoy, really enjoy what you have.

Since I expect nothing but oblivian when I die, I would be very surprised to discover I was wrong. On the other hand, if I did believe in eternal life and if I was wrong, there's simply no way I would ever know.

Why do you assume there has to be a point to "all this life/living stuff?" Why must there be "someone or something" "tinkering" with us? I suspect the real answer is that our parents brainwashed us with their own superstitious mythology when we were far too young to think for ourselves. Now, whenever we feel insecure we can wallow in those old familiar superstitions and get a little shot of paternalistic comfort.

If I had spent a lot of energy following some religion that had great promises for a fine life after death, yeah, I would be dissappointed. And if all the religions that promise a fine afterlife said "woopsie, we were wrong -- you will just be gone) then I would tend to live my life to get everything done and done right in the present life. If there are no dogs in the afterlife, better go get one now.

I am already confident there is nothing after I die. I have been unconscious before and "know" that I was completely unaware of "being" while in that state. Since death consists of a demonstrably lower level of brain activity, that doesn't bode well for hopes of being in the least aware!

The "point" of life is to perpetuate itself, that is why the urge to procreate is so urgent in most "life forms". Other than that, it makes most sense to enjoy it, be nice to other people, and show some respect for all this "just in case"!

why do u post this question under the science&math bord?

and to your question. What kind of answer do u expect when u ask why are we here, or whats the point of living?

Anyway. I would definetly be disappointed if there is nothing after death, but i am quite sure that u are dead after u died and there is nothing of u left which could worry.

The point to life is in the living; not some imaginary afterlife.

I already do. I accept reality as it is. Living is preferable to dying, so we might as well make the most of it.
