cause they were in your nose and you've been smelling them for a long time, so you start ignoring that smell

Well you got me there. But don't you have anything better to do than sit around sniffing your boogers? Oh wait...they are YOUR boogers, aren't they?

They actually can....for adults is rare, but with young children who are more apt to introduce food particles in there nostrils, which then grows bacteria.......they can smell.
