There are many reasons to be jealous, but why dont these people turn their energy into something constructive and actually do something about their crumbling nations?

When you deal with Europeans you will really see their frustration. They are almost like two-face, that batman villain. One time they will mock the US for not having a universal health care system like them, then a day or so later they will trash their own health care system and talk about how long it takes to get crappy service and how high taxes are. Their main issue is that they are truly jealous. They are jealous that they are not as talked about or recognized as the US. They are like the nerdy girl in HS that wants the attention from the best looking guy, and when he ignores her cause she is a geek, she freaks out and starts slashing the tires of his mustang. It really is sad how they live their lives, constantly in the shadow of the US. They get upset that nobody reads their crappy books, watches their crappy movies, or listens to their crappy music. They claim the US has no culture, yet will buy anything American. They make little mocking jokes about how America isn't a country, but 2 continents and they laugh to themselves over this, but then they get upset because nobody cares. At the end of the day they will make their comments and only they will listen to them, because Americans have more important things on their minds. What a sad life they lead.

I'd really like to answer but I don't see anything in this description matching with people's mind around me ( I'm in France ). I'd be curious to know, where do you get all this from, exactlY are you sure you read the right papers ? If it comes to what I would say about the US and the americans, it would just be that : they rule the world, or they almost do. But I don't see how any other country could be jalous, it's far too much a burden ..

Ps for Larry : I've lived 40 years in France : unemployement is under 10% which I agree is already much too much; And also, cars were not burning everywhere! don't watch the TV , they exagerate ;)

It is quite simple:
They are ENVIOUS!

But envious in a CONTINENTAL European way
If you know "Who wants to be a Milionaire"?
There is section where you can ask the Audience for help in answering a question

The" brits", who devised the Game, will give you every assistance and will give what they hope and pray is the right answer.
The filth in continental Europe.
Will give you the WRONG Answer

The Russians will do the same!
This is because they are all workshy bums
Who thinks the World owes them living.

You in the States are so stifled,by PC and "liberalism"
That you dare not say this.In ashort time you will not even be able to THINK it.

Example of Central EUROPEAN mentality:

Little American kid sees a Guy in a Cadillac.

He smiles and says
" When I grow up I'm goin' have Cadillac"

Little European Kid sees Guy in a Cadillac

Snarls,and says:

"When I grow up.No bastard will have A Cadillac"
meanwhile you have imported their revised Communism through the intellectuallism of Harvard andYale. And the French and other workshy bums are laughing at you.

Don't mock French.They're very Welcoming.

................................
Ask the German Army !

don't get emotional
JUST LISTEN AND LEARN.
Contintal European are naturally attracted to Communism It preached equality and such-like rubbish.
But all Europeans look it to give them Power
But a power that would enable them to enslave others.
Communism was the best way to achieve this.
In Europe no-one cares about the other Guy. It is SELF all the time.
Perhaps you can think of parallel in your own Culture.
Even when Germany ruled Europe this push toward Communism continued.
The French and all the other "Valiant Freedom Fighters " were not fighting to remove Hitler but to extablish Stalin so that could stick their noses in Stalin's trough.and rape and torture as they wished

Americans never kissed Joe Stalin's **** and for this you will not soon be forgiven.

They still pushed on through Europe of course,
But THE USA stood: Watchfully and with Awsome Power.
bed,time will return remember Commie="liberal

Just before I Go
Internal and externalpolicy
America Has no permanent Friends; only permanent Interests

Nasty remark
WHY should we be pals with you ? :-)

I think you're the sad one. We aren't jealous of your country,we just don't like it. Culture? When did you become a country? Was it 300 years ago or something? There are civilisations thousands of years old and you dare call your pathetic country a cultured one? You have the most criminals and serial killers in the world. Where a disgusting fat guy beats up a 101 year old lady? Get real and come down to earth. There is no such thing as jealousy for the americans. You are not important to us. There is just dislike for you and your way of life. It wouldn't hurt you to come to Europe to see how real people live. Open a book or two as well. I don't mean the 3 american authors you have.People have been writing books for centuries. Stop feeding on the junk your television is throwing at you. In a word WAKE UP!

I am from Scandinavia and i have never met anyone jealous of another country. We all know this is not a competition about who has the best life styles and are all free to move to other places if we are not happy where we are. But having said that, i also have never met a person who want´s to move to the U.S more often then people who want to move to Spain or any other place. We don't look at the U.S.A as a better place, just another country.
And Americans should know that they are not having it better than at least western Europe. But i can´t speek for the rest of the world. Maybe somebody is jelous.

You are exaggerating i am very familiar with Europe and the United States and I Know as a fact, the people in Europe that dislikes the United States are typically the same type of people in the United States that dislikes Europe.
United States is an extension of Europe, please do not get offended by that expression I mean the new world and the old world. United States is a great place to live but Europe is also a good place to live just a little different

Many Americans delude themselves into thinking the rest of the world is jealous, it's the only way they have to justify what has happened since 9/11. It's not necessarily true that the world is jealous and hates Americans. I think truthfully it's American policies, ie the Bush administration that most of the world dislikes. The world sees the hypocrosy and the insular attitudes and generally just shakes their head. It's like the US has to keep saying we're the greatest country in the world to convince themselves they are.

I'll be surprised if you read this after so many other comments but I just had to argue with another self opinionated yank.

Listen every country has bad apples, Jesus we've got loads, but its arrogance like yours that piss*s other people off, considering as a nation you haven't actually done much to gloat about.

Now I'm not slagging Americans off in general, just you, and people like you who think the world ends with the usofa. Mate listen, most of us in Europe had already amassed Empires, before we decided top colonise your gaff. You only have to look at the world today to see what we have given it

Yes your a wealthy country, but most of your achievements are a direct result of Europeans, Jesus you only got to the moon (that's if you even got there) thanks to Nazi scientists.

I could go on all night, but I'm bored, and you can keep your ten points, cause you have lost five for asking such a sh*t question

I don't think nearly as many people are 'jealous' of America as you think there are. I travel to other countries, but have always called America my home. Though, most of the time, I'm embarrassed to tell people in other countries that. Our country has gotten so out of control. Money, superficial people, and not to mention a sad attempt of leadership are ruining a great thing we had going. I still have hope for us, and don't get me wrong, I love it here, but it could be SO much better. I think you have much to learn about other countries, and about assuming you know how people view things.

I'm not jealous of America, I'm simply unhappy with the influences coming out of America on my country! Guns, Gangster Rap, fast food, overwork management cultures, dumb violent movies, unimaginative repetitive porn, SAT tests, Jock culture, fundamentalist politics. Americans need to get passports and move their plump backsides and find out about the real world. maybe then they might actually win a war, - it looks as if America is about to lose another war though the mis-calculation of its dumb leaders.

I also an not particularly happy about 10% of the worlds population using 25% of the worlds resources and encouraging everyone else to ruin the world as well.
