Well during the winter my clothes smell fine. But it seems that when summer comes and my clothes heat up (even if i dont sweat) they start to smell funny. I generally only wear cotten clothes. I always wash them before I wear them and I use a nice smelling fabric softner. Anyone have a similar experience and how can I combat this troubling problem?

I don't know if the problem is bugs but I'd be willing to guess that at some point you "molded" your clothes in the washer. If you let them set too long (about 1 day or longer) in the washing machine, they will get a musty moldy smell to them that is only noticable when they get even slightly damp. It's not the heat activating this scent- it's a minute amount of sweat your body is releasing. That's why they probably didn't smell to badly when you pulled them out of the dryer but do when you wear them in warm weather.
It only takes a little bit of moisture from your skin to make them smell.

To solve the problem: Wash the clothing in very hot water and dry them on the hottest setting- this kills all that nast gunk that's stinking your clothes up. If the smell is really permeated in the clothing, repeat your hot wash/dry cycles.
Good Luck!!!

Generally this is perspiration and the bacteria that may remain in the laundered clothing. Try a stronger detergent, or perhaps a larger portion in the wash load. Hang them out in the sun for some added UV exposure.

After showering, use rubbing alcohol in your armpits to help kill the excess bacteria. You would do this for a week. Then after that perhaps only one day a week would suffice (more in summer as you see fit). A little Ammens powder that contains Zinc compounds will also help limit the flora that congregate on you and contribute to odors.

The only time I have have seen this is when the clothes have been left in the washer too long before putting them in the dryer. Try a little vinegar or baking soda in the wash if this is not the case.

Omg. this happened to me! throw your clothes out immediately! there is a colony of small bugs living in your clothes that emit a musty scent caused by the bugs releasing a bacterial spray to keep away other animals.

I swear. you need to pur your clothes somewhere away from all the others (possibly one of those bags where you vaccum out the air) it will spread and it will eventually get so bad that you will have to demolish your house and urinate on the surrounding landscape.

Dont take the chance....throw it out!
