I know that Sri Lanka is Republic, but I want to know what they mean by republic. You are not allowed to use wikipedia as a source and you have to say if it is socialist, communist, or democratic...

Thanks!

Well, the official name of sri lanka Is "democratic socialist republic of sri lanka". So there are democratic and socialistic features, but it is more democratic than socialistic. Republic means the country is governed by the representatives selected according to the consent of majority (I think).

Do you know Sri Lanka was formerly known as "Ceylon". That name was widely used from during the time that Sri Lanka was a colony of British empire.
