Protest is not only the most basic American right, but the responsibility of any citizen who thinks the government is going the wrong way. I guess those who want to shut up protesters are the real anti-Americans. Me, I'm pro-America, and against wasting the lives of our sons and daughters needlessly. War is not the answer to this problem.

Of course, if you are concerned your senators and representative are probably getting to know your name from all the letters you have been sending- but that was not my question.

And by the way, it was John Hancock who signed the Declaration so boldly.

So according to this group, it's patriotic to send our children into harm's way to continue a war that was started under false pretenses thanks to the lies of our leader, who endangered the lives of our own CIA to discredit those who were telling the truth. And this mission against one of hundreds of dictators, who was already captured and executed, and who had nothing to do with 911, and which was declared "accomplished" years ago, should be continued because we're still there. Meanwhile the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden are benefiting because we have diverted our attention away from pursuing them, and the National Guard is diverted away from their domestic duties like disaster relief and security at home. And we're losing what friends we may have internationally.
That's really smart. A soldier's duty may be to obey orders without questioning, but civilians must make sure that the country is worthy of that sacred trust. And I think we have failed them.

YES!!! Well, you got one good answer anyway. It seems like every blind, stubborn, Fox News-watching supporter of the President left found your question and answered it. Saying that we are encouraging the enemy or being anti-American shows a lack of understanding of what America is, and is the most un-American thing of all. This recent answer makes a good point, that protests alone aren't the solution, only part of the solution. My protest is taking place in Grand Junction, Colorado, a town of 40,000, at 1 P.M. Sunday, March 25. We will have a march and rally with speakers, music, and informational tables. We will also have a display on the park grounds of 3,000 miniature crosses, one for every servicemember killed in Iraq. The United for Peace and Justice website says that there are over 400 such events planned across the country for this time. Let the real voice of the American people be heard convincingly, but let's not stop with protests. Give your representatives an earful.

No.
Why should I? It doesn't do anything constructive. Want to be constructive? Write a letter, send an e-mail, and call your Congressperson and Senator. Get a petition filled, and send it to the Office of the President, the US Senate, the US House of Representatives, as well as your own state's Governor, state Senate, and state Legislature.
Protests are done, and worn out. They are a joke. Showing all of your politicians a definate set of names is putting the power into the hands of the People. Anyone can rent a mob. But, not everyone is willing to be a patriot and put their name down for it. Be inspired by our Founding Fathers. Remember Patrick Henry's courage to make his signature clearly legible to the K of E. Apply that to today, and make our Congress and our Presidency aware of you, and your message. Anything else is just a nuissance, and I pay less attention to nuissances than to people with a problem.

You’re pro-American? That’s a laugh. You and the above protester are as guilty as the mercenary cowards in the French government who promised Saddam he didn’t have to leave Iraq to avert military action because France would never let the coalition invade. Your patriotism is a joke: once the troops go in, the protests must end. Far more America soldiers (and both guilty and innocent Iraqis) than necessary have died because our enemies have come to believe because of Americans like you that they have only to wait-out President Bush’s term to win. Face it, if they had seen a unified America, Iraq would have been pacified years ago and our troops would have been freed up for other operations in this global struggle.

You’d better get used to this war, of which Iraq is just one theatre, because we in the West are going to be in it for the rest of your life. The government’s mistakes thus far have been miniscule compared to those we made in the Second World War, for example, but the Americans of yesteryear focused on victory not defeatism. In that war, the superiority on the part of the Allies in numbers of men, material, and wealth, would have availed them nothing had they lost the “will to win,” that is, had they not been willing to pay the price in blood and treasure necessary to win. If the major media and Hollywood instead of tirelessly promoting victory had continuously harped on ever set-back (of which there were many) and second-guessed the commander-in-chief, if a large segment of the U.S. electorate had lost it’s stomach for war and begun to blame the president and his party for it, and if schools, churches, and civic institutions began to loose faith in the rightness of the American way of life and the evil of her enemies, then surely the war would have been lost. Sound familiar? The real and immediate threat to our way of life today is Islamic fascism and the terrorism it breeds (which I’ve personally seen kill people); that’s the inconvenient truth that so many cannot look passed their politics to accept. Get behind this president, get behind the next one, too (Democrat or Republican), because if we loose this war, our children will damn our memory as the cowards who failed them.

People usually protest the war on a Monday because Sunday is church and after the pastor beats them down for their sins, they have to beat down something else to help them feel better.
