They do seem to age a little slower than muggles. Udmble dore is downright ancient, Tom/Voldy is on up there ( as well as some of his cronies from the "slug club" scene), Hagrid's got to be around 60ish, Slughorn was a teacher for Tom/Voldy and I don't know how many others are old and haven't been assigned an approximate age yet.
Maybe JKR just wants to show that age doesn't slow you down that much.

I dont think they're immortal, but I do think they live longer. Look at Dumbledore, in the second book when Harry goes back 50 years Dumbledore was there, and he was old. Also in the 6th book, when Harry is looking at the memory when Tom RIddle found out he was a wizard Dumbledores there. so how old was Dumbledore when he died? Pretty old is my guess...

No they are not immortal. I wish because so many important people die ( Dumbledor) and if you heard J.K Rowling's new statement about the bk seven she confirmed that two more very important characters will die. If they do live after death( Voldemort) they probably have messed with spells to make life longer.

If you read the first book, the creater of the socerer's stone uses it to create the elixer of life which he has to drink every day to love forever. He eventually decides to stop drinking it after getting his affairs in order, and destroy the stone, so he will die. He was a powerful wizard. So, no, being a wizard does not make one imortal, and there only seems to be one magical elixer for immortality and it is now gone. So I would say they aren't immortal.

I wondered that too cause in chamber of secrets the chamber was opened 50 years ago by suppossedly Hagrid that would make Hagrid 60 odd i dont think it fits. Maybe your average life expectancy is higher when you're a wizard !!!

No, not really. From J.k's point of view, no. They live to be about our age. They aren't exactly what I'd call immortal- if they were, I think it would be a little more challenging for Voldemort to kill them.

Well I'm not sure how long they live but there is the elixir of life which made Nicholas Flamel live for (i think 550 years or so).
