I've no idea, but I'm sure that "money" is just a printed paper, and political games (like the one which you felt in right now) are not so logical, I saw your movie "300"; sorry to see a nation which had Lincoln now is full filled by some idiots like hmm ... According to Greek historians, you made a big damn lie, I know you made it 5 months sooner and gain your government support on it, I know all these, I also know that realistic movies such as Syriana face lots of government-made problems. The most important issue for we 80 million Persians around the world is this "Who's guilty?" , be sure that I will never respect any American anymore, for me at least, Americans are some creatures like you, who worship money.

For those who wanna know why Persians are angry:

Iran is not proud of the conquers as now we have our own small and lovely country. but proud of human's right women's right and the things we did in the past. unfortunately we can not be proud of what we are now (especially by having a president like ahmadinejad). and as friends say this is only a cartoon. we have tolerance. this is not a film by jean-luc godard or fellini or jim jarmusch just another pornography-like video by hollywood. we appriciate jews we believe in holocaust and so sorry for that. as our king did so many years ago(defend the jews). Iran is still the land of zaratostra and the land of peace. I hope some day we would be able to show our own culture not the arab ones(I am not facist even the arabic culture is good). other people have right to have their own opinion. we did not tried to show our culture and they only know about nuk bombs and wars so what we should expect. my answer is that all three are not blameworthy. like a whore doing her job for the money, miller, snyder and warner bros are doing their business. History will decide on them. It is 2007 and chaplin is still alive and loved all over the world. Fritz lang, and....... they will live untill the end of time.

300 is based on one persons interpretation of a historical battle. It was made into a graphical novel which means somewhat cartoony. The facts of the history are roughly correct but the characters and how they are portrayed are strictly up to the man writing and drawing the story. The movie is an interpretation of the graphic novel though very accurately done.
The movie does not have "photos:" to go by as the battle occurred over 2400 years ago.
I do not think anyone is guilty. These are interpretations only and not based on any kind of reality. I did not watch the film and think that any Persians were as portrayed in the film. I was however, transported to a place that allowed me to enjoy a fantastical story.

Listen pal every nation has had a dark past, take it easy!

You can't deny Persia tried to conquer as much of the ancient world as it could. Its historical fact. The movie is pretty much accurate except the 15 story elephants and the Giant they threw in there.
Further, as an act of kindness the Persians put King Leonidas head on a spike, so don't act so Innocent. Even the Greeks had their dark days under Alexander the Great trying to conquer the world, nothing to be proud of, but it happened big deal.
Peace,

The Persians for enslaving countless nations, attacking Greece and fighting poorly so that they could not rewrite history.
To the victor go the spoils. If the Persian Empire had won I'm sure a much different story would have been told.
Its a movie based on a comic based on a movie based on history. Lighten Up!
BTW:
Make all the white jokes and satire you want. Keep it funny or relevant to the telling of a good story and all is good.

If 300 was based on true events it would have said it at the begining of the movie. This movie was also based on a graphic novel...not a history book!!! Oh yeah did I mention its a MOVIE!! Get over it you..........oh wait......I don't want to offend you........you might think someone paid me to say it! And your photo is not a picture of an actual battle taking place! What he ment by photo was a real life picture of something occuring! Like a picture you take with your family, not a statue, not a carving in the wall and that photo tells me nothing! All I see is someones carved opinion of something!

The first thing you see when you go in the United Nations in New York is a replica of the Cyrus Cylander: the first charter of human rights created by Cyrus the great who founded Persia in the 5TH CENTURY BC.

1000B.C.: The Prophet Zoroaster was the first prophet to introduce the idea of monotheism, duality of good and evil, mankind's freedom of choice between the two alternatives, messianic redemption, final judgement, heaven (the word Paradise comes from the word "Paradaesa" from the Old Persian language), hell, and the notion of an almighty, kind, loving, and forgiving God. Many of the concepts had a profound influence on Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

558-530 B.C.: Cyrus the Great established the Persian Empire in 550 B.C, the first world empire. It was and still may be the largest empire the world has ever seen. His respect for local traditions, laws, languages, and religions set the foundation of a relatively benevolent empire. He created the first charter of human rights. A Greek historian writes the "Cyropedia" which describes Cyrus's methods of ruling. Cyrus's view was that "great rulers are loved, not feared" as opposed to the Roman belief in the contrary. Thomas Jefferson owned two copies of the "Cyropedia." It influenced the US constitution.

522-486BC Darius the Great built many roads, ports, banking houses (the word "check" comes from the Old Persian language), the worlds first elaborate underground irrigation and sewage systems and the first canal to link the Nile to the Red Sea (the precursor of the Suez Canal). Darius introduced the first coinage system in the world called the Darik. This iniciative, along with the standardization of weights and measures and the codifications of commercial laws, stimulated the world trade and elevated the Persian Empire's economy to new levels of prosperity. He created the Persepolis Palace to reflect the wealth and multicultural dimension of the Empire. He created the Royal Road, the world's longest, extending 1,500 miles. Due to an extensive network of relays, postmen could travel the road in six to nine days as opposed to 3 months! The motto of the Persian postal service, "stopped by neither snow, rain, heat or gloom of night," was adapted by the US postal service. The US's Pony Express mail deliverey resembled the original Persian design.

Greek historians, particularly Horodotus, was shocked when he witnessed Persian women dining with their men and participating in political dicisions. He called this immoral behavior.

334BC: Alexander invades Persia, gets drunk and burns Persepolis only to regret it. He also destroys 3 volumes of the Zoroastrian text. However, he payed tribute to Cyrus's tomb, emulated Persian court customs and attempted to create a new culture, a mix of both Persian and Hellenistic. he failed to maintain this. Thus even after Alexander, Persia maintained it's integrity, culture, customs, and vitality in the region. Other invaders only adopted Persian culture and not vis versa. Rome failed against Persia 7 times! Islamic architecture is a continuation of pre-Islamic Persian architecture of the Sassanian Era of Persia. This was all a summary of the Achaemenid Era in which Xerxes (khashayar shah) lived.

the Persian Empire in 480 B.C was the most magnificent and civilized empire. Established by the Cyrus the great, the writer of the first human right declaration, Persians ruled over significant portions of Greater Iran, the east modern Afghanistan and beyond into central Asia; in the north and west all of Asia Minor (modern Turkey), the upper Balkans peninsula (Thrace), and most of the Black Sea coastal regions; in the west and southwest the territories of modern Iraq, northern Saudi-Arabia, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, all significant population centers of ancient Egypt and as far west as portions of Libya. Having twenty nations under control, encompassing approximately 7.5 million square kilometers, unquestionably the Achaemenid Empire was territorially the largest empire of classical antiquity.

Based on the Zoroastrian doctrine, it was the strong emphasis on honesty and integrity that gave the ancient Persians credibility to rule the world, even in the eyes of the people belonging to the conquered nations (Herodotus, mid 5th century B.C). Truth for the sake of truth, was the universal motto and the very core of the Persian culture that was followed not only by the great kings, but even the ordinary Persians made it a point to adhere to this code of conduct.

the "300" is insult to Persians
