A club keeps the European Cup after they've won it five times. I believe the one that teams are playing for this season is the fourth one to be made after Real Madrid, AC Milan and Liverpool were awarded the others for their acheivments.

it isn't actually the real one but a replica but as put before it is because they have won it on 5 previous occasions. but if that is right then real madrid are on for their second.
