I was planning on reading it because it just spawned a movie called The Last Mimzy and I was curious was it a good book it seemed pretty interesting.

Actually it's a short story by Lewis Padgett (which was the pseudonym of two authors, Kuttner and Moore). I read it online not too long ago but it doesn't seem to be around right now. The title is "Mimzy Were the Borogroves" which was a line from Carroll's Jaberwocky poem.
And yes, it's good. The movie's a bit different, I hear, but also good.
